01/01/2004 OHM Releases New OSHA Form Changes For 2004 Colorado Springs, CO -- Unique Software Solutions, Inc. has released the newest changes to the OSHA Form 300, Log of Work-Related Injuries in OHM Version 5.50. This version may be downloaded from our website www.OHMSoftware.com or contact us to receive a CD update. The forms, which are required for employers to to use in recording injuries and illnesses, have changed in several important ways for 2004. Foremost among the changes is the addition of an occupational hearing loss column to OSHA's Form 300, Log of Work-Related Injuries and Illnesses. Other changes include: "days away from work" column now comes before the "days on job transfer or restriction". Employers must begin to use the new OSHA Form 300 on January 1, 2004. The new form has the date of revision (rev. 1/2004) located on the form next to the form number. Injuries and illnesses for years prior to 2004 will continue to be printed on the original OSHA form. In OHM to prevent having 2 reports, a date parameter has been added to Case Management - Options - Options - OSHA Log tab. The date parameter will automatically be filled in with 1/1/2004. This will ensure that the Hearing Loss column will only print if you are printing the log with a start date of 1/1/2004 or later. Additionally, you should use the old OSHA 300A Summary Form (without the hearing loss column) to post as required in February 2004. The new 300A form that includes the hearing loss column should be used to post in February 2005. This is handled again by the date parameter in OHM. Questions on how to download the update or to request a CD may be directed to our Technical Support department at (719)219-1181 or TechSupport@OHMSoftware.com. |

07/01/2003 HIPAA Update Colorado Springs, CO -- April 14, 2003 marked the dya that the HIPAA privacy rule took effect for health care providers, health plans, and health care clearinghouses that use electronic form transactions. This rule was put into effect to guard privacy of PHI (Protected Health Information). Since OHM® software is a product and USSI does not directly provide health care services, we are not considered a business associate of the covered entities and as such will sign a business associate agreement if requested. As a business associate, we may only need access to PHI for purposes of Technical Support or data conversions. We have specific procedures in place for receiving and working with PHI when needed. The OHM® system has a variety of security levels that allow security to be set to protect the necessary information from users who should not see the information. In version 5.40, which was released in mid-June, fuctionality has been added that makes tracking HIPAA related issues within the system readily available: 1. In Demographics, there is a new screen called PHI Consent. This allows you to track that an employee or patient has signed the PHI Consent form and includes a variety of fields related to consent to release information. 2. The second screen is the Encounter Log and is called the HIPAA Log. This screen allows you to keep track of when and how PHI was disclosed and to whom it was diclosed. The new features will benefit those users who are covered entities and those who are also business associates. At USSI, we strive to keep the OHM® system in line with the changes in government in addition to staying on the cutting edge of technological advances. Please contact our technical support department for more information on our latest release. |
07/01/2003 AOHC Means Learning More About OHM® Colorado Springs, CO -- Although OHM® offers over a thousand canned reports, It seems perfection is just a little out of reach. With that in mind, eight intrepid ladies gathered together on Monday, May 5, 2003 in Atlanta to tackle the Beginning Report Writer class. Representing a variety of industries and hailing from Michigan to Puerto Rico these women learned the basics of database reporting - they selected fields, formatted objects, and created a number of simple report variables. (Report variables allow you to query raw data in order to obtain a specific sub-set of information e.g. All employees from a specific department or all cases having arm injuries). By the end of the day everyone had mastered simple listing reports, crosstab reports, graphs, memos, and labels. In addition, each person earned 6 CEU's and an 'I Love OHM®' t-shirt. Congatulations to: Cathy Bienkowski (Novartis), Donna Carter (United Technologies Carrier), Dr. Leonara Diaz (Occupational Medicine Services), Cheryl Ingram and Cheree Montgomery (Engelhard), Donna Freet (Inomedic), Tammi Hemje (Pfizer), and Barbara Tobis (Pfizer.) After honing their skills for six months or so, they become excellent candidates for the Report Writer II class offerd in Colorado Springs every May and November. Contact Training@OHMSoftware.com for more information. Have you ever wanted to pick the brain of an OHM® expert? That's what several customer's planned to do during AOHC. By purchasing an hour of a trainer's time and bringing a laptop containing a copy of their data, these end users were able to get specific answers to all of their questions. Issues included setup, error messages, new features, streamling the work-flow process, and reporting requirements. Those involved agreed that this was an excellent way to find solutions to their questions as well as learn tips, tricks, and shortcuts from the trainers. |

This will include new forms and processes that will be included in the OHM™ program in early fall of 2001. These changes include: ·The OSHA 200 form has been modified and renamed the OSHA 300 log ·The OSHA 300 form has been modified and renamed the OSHA 301 form ·For recordability purposes, there is no longer a distinction between injuries and illnesses ·A new severity criterion for determining recordability has been added ·Pre-existing injuries or illnesses are recordable if an event at work is determined to have “significantly aggravated” the condition ·Lost workday cases are now classified as days away from work. This change will count all calendar days away from work without distinguishing whether a person was scheduled to work that day ·Restricted work is redefined as the employee being prevented from his doctor or employer from performing one or more “routine functions” of the job or from working the full, scheduled workday
